Learn and Laugh as we share the benefits of adding an ‘improv mind’ to Embodying a Coaching Mindset. This will be a fun, interactive exploration of the newest ICF Core Competency, Embodies a Coaching Mindset. We will learn and practice several improvisation techniques designed to help both coach and client be more fully mindful and present in coaching.
Improv techniques are applicable to work with individuals and with groups. Embodiment of a Coaching Mindset, together with Demonstration of Ethical Practice, form the FOUNDATION of the ICF Core Competencies. While a "Mindset" may not be observable in each moment, we will explore and look for the evidence of 11 PCC Markers that may be demonstrated within a coaching conversation.
Handouts include: Similarities and Differences between Improv and Professional Coaching
At the session's conclusion we will invite you to consider:
What does this competency add to your toolkit?
Why do you think it was (the only new competency) added?
What do you want to hardwire about this new competency?
What are you inspired to do, to reflect on, to take this learning forward?
Takeaways from this event include:
• Level 2 - Identify/Recognize elements of the newest Mindset core competency using 11 PCC Markers as evidence
• Level 3 - Practice client-centered exercises that produce and demonstrate “openness and curiosity”
• Level 5 - “Develops and maintain a mindset that is open, curious, flexible and client-centered” (Def of CC #2)
