Most coaches have witnessed the power of storytelling in their work, in one form or another. But how does story really work on a practical level and what place does it serve in the way we approach the work of transformation in people’s lives? This workshop examines the power of storytelling and how it can be effectively used in coaching. Even in our cultural deluge of technology, a simple story still holds the power it always has to motivate people to see the world differently and believe that change is possible in our lives and in our communities.

John Bucher has dedicated his life to understanding how storytelling can be used to transform every person’s journey. He uses the tenants and structures of storytelling to help coaches better understand the relationship between story and transformation in our complex world. A mix of helpful frameworks, powerful insights, lots of fun, and a dash of magic, The Art of Story Craft is a workshop that can add new dimensions of depth to any coach's work.

Workshop presenter: John Bucher, Ph.D., PCC

John Bucher is a creative coach, storyteller, and mythologist based out of Hollywood, California. In addition to coaching clients internationally, he serves as Creative Director for the Joseph Campbell Foundation and is also an author, podcaster, and professional speaker. He has worked with companies including HBO, DC Comics, The History Channel, A24 Films, The John Maxwell Leadership Foundation and served as a consultant and writer for numerous film, television, and VR projects. He is the author of six books and Disruptor named him one of the top 25 influencers in Virtual Reality. John holds a Ph.D. in Mythology and Depth Psychology and has spoken on 6 continents about using the power of story and myth to reframe how individuals, organizations, cultures, and nations are viewed.
